Sensex up 48pts; breadth marginally +ve

The Sensex is now up 48 points at 15,613.

Hindustan Unilever has soared nearly 4% to Rs 202. Larsen & Toubro has surged 3.6% to Rs 2,564, and BHEL has rallied 3.3% to Rs 1,703.

Hindalco has moved up 1.8% to Rs 186. Reliance Energy and HDFC Bank have gained 1.4% each at Rs 698 and Rs 1,216, respectively.

Tata Steel, ONGC and Satyam are up over 1% each.

Cipla has plunged 3.7% to Rs 194. Infosys has shed 2% to Rs 1,946.

Ambuja Cements has dropped 1.8% to Rs 134, and ICICI Bank has slipped 1.5% to Rs 971.

The market breadth is marginally positive - out of 2,347 stocks traded so far, 1,229 have advanced, 1,051 have declined and 67 are unchanged.
