Sensex up 48pts; ONGC, NTPC surge 2%

The Sensex is now up 48 points at 15,664.

Hindalco has surged 2.7% to Rs 159. ONGC and NTPC have rallied 2.2% each to Rs 856 and Rs 190, respectively.

ITC has gained 1.8% at Rs 178. Reliance Communications has moved up 1.5% to Rs 548, and Tata Steel has added 1.3% to Rs 702.

Cipla and Wipro have slipped over 1% each to Rs 183 and Rs 473, respectively.

The market breadth is positive - out of 2,431 stocks traded so far, 1,483 have advanced, 886 have declined and 62 are unchanged.
