Sensex up 48pts; Rel Comm, HDFC surge

The Sensex is now up 48 points at 12,057.

Reliance Communications and HDFC have surged over 2.5% each to Rs 326 and Rs 1,365, respectively.

HLL and Cipla have gained around 2% each at Rs 249 and Rs 260, respectively. ITC has added 1.7% to Rs 185.

Larsen & Toubro and Ranbaxy have advanced 1.5% each to Rs 2,679 and Rs 420, respectively.

Dr.Reddy's, BHEL and Reliance Energy are up 1% each at Rs 755, Rs 2,291 and Rs 469, respectively.

Tata Motors has slipped 1% to Rs 861. ICICI Bank is the other significant loser.

The market breadth is positive - out of 2,232 stocks traded so far, 1,229 have advanced, 939 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
