Sensex up 491pts; Tata Steel surges 5%

The Sensex is now up 491 points at 17,099.

The NSE Nifty has moved up 136 points to 4,974.

Tata Steel, Reliance and HDFC Bank have zoomed 5% each to Rs 746, Rs 2,440 and Rs 1,468, respectively.

HDFC has soared 4.3% to Rs 2,736. BHEL and ITC have surged 4% each to Rs 1,952 and Rs 192, respectively.

ICICI Bank has rallied 3.7% to Rs 1,103. ACC and Reliance Energy have advanced over 3% each to Rs 742 and Rs 1,585, respectively.

Tata Motors and ONGC have moved up nearly 3% each to Rs 713 and Rs 964, respectively.

NTPC and Larsen & Toubro have added 2.5% each to Rs 190 and Rs 3,349, respectively.

Cipla has dropped 2.4% to Rs 182. Wipro has slipped 1.6% to Rs 415, and Satyam is down 1% at Rs 417.
