Sensex up 49pts; Reliance, TCS firm

The Sensex is now up 49 points at 15,840.

The NSE Nifty is up 20 points at 4,767.

Reliance Energy has soared 7.5% to Rs 1,266. Reliance and TCS have surged around 3.5% each to Rs 2,504 and Rs 906, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro has gained 2.5% at Rs 2,706, and Ambuja Cements has added 1.6% to Rs 122.

Hindalco and Mahindra & Mahindra are up over 1% each at Rs 175 and Rs 615, respectively.

ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel and HDFC Bank have dropped around 2.5% each to Rs 815, Rs 800 and Rs 1,344, respectively.

Ranbaxy has slipped over 2% to Rs 460. Jaiprakash Associates has shed 1.6% at Rs 216.

Reliance Communications and Hindustan Unilever are down 1.3% each at Rs 490 and Rs 241, respectively.

Out of 2,676 stocks traded so far, 1,880 have advanced, 731 have declined and 65 are unchanged.
