Sensex up 4pts

The Sensex is moving in a narrow range after the government announced hikes in petrol and diesel prices. The index is now up four points at 7,929.

SBI has gained 1.8% (Rs 15) to Rs 832. ITC is steady at Rs 1,822 - up 1.6% (Rs 28).

Cipla is up Rs 5 at Rs 360.

ICICI Bank is moving in a narrow range, and is up Rs 6 at Rs 490.

Bajaj has dropped over a per cent (Rs 16) to Rs 1,472. Maruti is down Rs 5 at Rs 500.

ACC, Gujarat Ambuja, TCS, L&T and Tata Motors are also trading with losses.
