Sensex up 5 pts, banking stocks firm

After touching a high of 6,775 in mid-morning trades, the market is largely listless in current trades with steady-to-firm gains seen in select banking and tech stocks.

The Sensex, as a result, is now up five points at 6,763, while the Nifty is down a point at 2,092.

ICICI Bank has flared up 2.23% (Rs 9) to Rs 403, while HDFC Bank has advanced 1.86% (Rs 10) to Rs 563. SBI, however, is trading at lower levels at Rs 680 - down Rs 2.

Wipro has mopped up 1.73% gains (Rs 12) to Rs 727, and Infosys is up Rs 6 at Rs 2,225. TCS and Satyam, however, are trading with steady losses at Rs 1,277 and Rs 459, respectively.

Hindalco has moved up 1.25% (Rs 13) to Rs 1,094, and HDFC has clocked a per cent gain (Rs 7) to Rs 787.

Gujarat Ambuja has added 1.31% (Rs 6) to Rs 452. Grasim and ACC are marginally up at Rs 1,099 and Rs 382, respectively.

Bharti has gained a per cent (Rs 2) to Rs 222.

ONGC is down a per cent (Rs 6) at Rs 930. While HLL has shed 2.58% (Rs 4) to Rs 144, ITC has lost 1.14% (Rs 18) to Rs 1,563. Reliance is trading weak at Rs 549 - down Rs 2.

Ranbaxy has declined 1.49% (Rs 17) to Rs 1,093, while other pharma majors are displaying a mixed trend.
