Sensex up 5 pts in early trades

After witnessing a sharp correction of 50 points on Friday, the Sensex today opened eight points higher at 6,790. Mixed outing, thereafter, saw the Sensex edge past the 6,800-mark to touch a high of 6,814, before profit-taking dragged it to a low of 6,779.

The Sensex, at current trades, has rolled back into the green to 6,787 - up five points, while the Nifty is down three points at 2,088.

ONGC (up Rs 4 to Rs 906) and ITC (up Rs 6 to Rs 1,568) have resumed withs steady gains, and HLL is up a rupee at Rsx147. Reliance, however, is down a rupee at Rs 566.

Infosys has commenced with a steady gains at Rs 2,223 - up Rs 10, while TCS is marginally up at Rs 1,269. Satyam, however, is down Rs 2 at Rs 462.

ICICI Bank is up a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 411, and HDFC Bank is marginally up at Rs 577.

Bajaj has registered a per cent gain (Rs 10) to Rs 1,248. Other auto pivotals are mixed in early trades.

Grasim has lost 1.36% (Rs 15) to Rs 1,097, while other cement majors are largely flat.

Hindalco has dropped 1.38% (Rs 28) to Rs 1,110.
