Sensex up 504pts; Tata Steel surges 5%

The Sensex is now up 504 points at 18,923.

Reliance Energy has zoomed 8% to Rs 1,766. ONGC and HDFC Bank have soared around 6% each to Rs 1,161 and Rs 1,514, respectively.

Tata Steel has surged over 5% to Rs 893. Reliance Communications has gained 4.6% at Rs 751.

Hindalco, Maruti, Bharti Airtel and HDFC have rallied 4% each to Rs 186, Rs 1,143, Rs 1,113 and Rs 2,570, respectively.

ACC and BHEL have moved up 3.5% each to Rs 1,294 and Rs 2,420, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever has slipped over 1% to Rs 219.

Out of 2,730 stocks traded so far, 1,941 have advanced, 728 have declined and 61 are unchanged.
