Sensex up 50pts; Debutant GSPC in limelight

The Sensex is now up 50 points at 10,163.

Dr.Reddy's continues to lead the upmove, and the stock is now up nearly 5% at Rs 1,229.

Grasim has surged 2.5% to Rs 1,687, and ACC has spurted 2% to Rs 590. Gujarat Ambuja is up 1% at Rs 86.25.

Hero Honda has rallied 2% to Rs 911. While Tata Motors has moved up 1.8% to Rs 783, Maruti has moved up 1.4% to Rs 763.

Tata Steel, Infosys and Satyam are up over 1% each.

Hindalco and ITC have shed 1.5% each to Rs 161 and Rs 168, respectively. HLL (Rs 232), Ranbaxy (Rs 440) and ONGC (Rs 1,141) are the other prominent losers.

The market breadth continues to remain positive - out of 2,370 stocks traded so far, 1,433 have advanced, 867 have declined and the rest are unchanged.

Gujarat State Petronet (GSPC) which has been listed today. Traded at a hefty premium of 74% when it touched a high of Rs 47 in early trades. The stock tops both the value and volume chart on the BSE and is now at Rs 42.

GSPC tops the value chart with a turnover of Rs 92.72 crore followed by McLeod Russel (Rs 49.09 crore), Harrison Malyalam (Rs 42.56 crore), ENT Network (Rs 39.81 crore) and Jayshree Tea (Rs 32.80 crore).

GSPC also leads the volume chart with trades of around 2.12 crore shares followed by GV Films (40.68 lakh), Amar Remedies (35.70 lakh), McLeod Russel (31.48 lakh) and SAIL (29.71 lakh).
