Sensex up 50pts; HLL, ITC surge

The Sensex is now up 50 points at 14,186.

Ranbaxy has soared over 5% to Rs 367. HLL has surged 2.5% to Rs 212.

Tata Motors and Cipla have rallied around 2% each to Rs 759 and Rs 244, respectively. ITC has moved up 1.8% to Rs 159.

Hero Honda, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and ACC have advanced over 1.5% each to Rs 672, Rs 1,030, Rs 965 and Rs 829, respectively.

HDFC has moved up 1.3% to Rs 1,733.

Tata Steel has dropped 2% to Rs 568. Satyam and Infosys have slipped 1.7% each to Rs 467 and Rs 2,022, respectively.

Bharti Airtel and NTPC are the other major losers.

Out of 2,477 stocks traded so far, 1,356 have advanced, 1,024 have declined and 97 are unchanged.
