Sensex up 50pts; Reliance, HDFC in red

The Sensex is now up 50 points at 8,953.

HDFC Bank has rallied 3.7% to Rs 862. DLF, Tata Power, ONGC and Satyam have surged 3.3% each to Rs 197, Rs 675, Rs 701 and Rs 237, respectively.

Bharti Airtel, Wipro and ICICI Bank have gained 3% each at Rs 655, Rs 241 and Rs 332, respectively.

BHEL has moved up 2.7% to Rs 1,336. Reliance Infrastructure and Hindalco have added 2.5% each to Rs 518 and Rs 53, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates and NTPC are up 2.3% each at Rs 59 and Rs 157, respectively.

Ranbaxy has plunged 4.7% to Rs 204. Mahindra & Mahindra has shed 2.5% at Rs 292.

 

Reliance has dropped 1.5% to Rs 1,127, and HDFC has slipped 1.3% to Rs 1,356.

ITC and TCS are down over 1% each at Rs 170 and Rs 515, respectively.

The market breadth is positive - out of 2,370 stocks traded so far, 1,241 have advanced, 1,042 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
