Sensex up 51 pts; Wipro, RIL, Tisco firm

The Sensex, which witnessed a declining trend since early morning trades due to profit-taking, has steadily moved up on renewed gains in select old and new economy stocks.

While the Sensex is now up 51 points at 7,196, the Nifty has added 10 points to 2,189.

Reliance has gained a per cent (Rs 7) to Rs 620. ITC is trading with steady gains at Rs 1,693 - up Rs 13. HLL is up a notch at Rs 158. ONGC, however, has lost a per cent (Rs 7) to Rs 922.

While HDFC Bank has gained 1.20% (Rs 8) to Rs 648, SBI and ICICI Bank are up a per cent each at Rs 714 (up Rs 4) and Rs 425 (up Rs 3), respectively.

Wipro is up nearly 2% (Rs 14) at Rs 724, and Infosys is steady at Rs 2,328 - up Rs 11. Satyam is still up a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 495.

Tisco has gained 2.43% (Rs 9) to Rs 363, and HDFC is up 1.24% (Rs 11) at Rs 915.

Bajaj has dropped 1.74% (Rs 23) to Rs 1,327. Maruti and Tata Motors are down a per cent each at Rs 445 and Rs 433, respectively.

Ranbaxy and Cipla are up a per cent each at Rs 1,057 (up Rs 8) and Rs 317 (up Rs 3), respectively. Dr. Reddy's, however, is still trading at weaker levels at Rs 767 - down Rs 5.
