Sensex up 51pts; HDFC advances 2%

A sudden bout of selling in the market saw the Sensex dip to a low of 13,485. The index is now up 51 points at 13,520. The index today had hit a new all-time intra-day high of 13,588.

HDFC Bank has soared 4% (Rs 44) to Rs 1,121. SBI has rallied 3.6% to Rs 1,221, and ICICI Bank has added 1.5% to Rs 894. HDFC has moved up 2% to Rs 1,561.

ACC has surged 4% to Rs 1,060. Satyam has spurted 2% to Rs 436, and Wipro has added 1% to Rs 553.

Infosys has dropped 2.5% (Rs 55) to Rs 2,168. Tata Motors has shed 1.4% to Rs 812.

Maruti and Ranbaxy have slipped 1.2% each to Rs 894 and Rs 399, respectively. TCS and Reliance Communications are down 1% each at Rs 1,085 and Rs 398, respectively.

Out of 2,579 stocks traded so far, 1,428 have declined, 1,080 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
