Sensex up 522pts; ONGC, REL lead

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 282 points at 17,504, and touched a high of 17,798. The index is now up 522 points at 17,744.

ONGC, Bajaj Auto and Reliance Energy (REL) have soared around 5.5% each to Rs 998, Rs 2,229 and Rs 1,915, respectively.

BHEL and Grasim have surged 4.7% each to Rs 2,195 and Rs 3,030, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra and SBI have rallied 4.3% each to Rs 653 and Rs 2,447, respectively.

ICICI Bank and NTPC have advanced around 4% each to Rs 1,180 and Rs 212, respectively.

Cipla and Infosys are up 3.5% each at Rs 181 and Rs 1,470, respectively.
