Sensex up 523pts; JP Associates zooms 9%

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 493 points at 15,326, and soon touched a high of 15,466. The index is now up 523 points at 15,357.

The NSE Nifty is up 150 points at 4,683.

Jaiprakash (JP) Associates has zoomed 9% to Rs 219. HDFC Bank has surged nearly 7% to Rs 1,316.

ICICI Bank has rallied 5% to Rs 807. Bharti Airtel and HDFC have gained 4.5% each at Rs 792 and Rs 2,300, respectively.

SBI and Reliance Energy have advanced over 4% each to Rs 1,660 and Rs 1,278, respectively.

BHEL, DLF and Grasim have moved up 3.7% each to Rs 1,890, Rs 658 and Rs 2,725, respectively.
