Sensex up 53pts; BHEL surges 2%

The Sensex is now up 53 points at 14,540.

BHEL has surged nearly 2% to Rs 1,478. Bharti Airtel has rallied 1.7% to Rs 847.

Satyam, ONGC, Tata Motors and Tata Steel have advanced around 1% each to Rs 460, Rs 927, Rs 684 and Rs 605, respectively.

Ranbaxy has shed 1.3% to Rs 352.

Out of 2,601 stocks traded so far, 1,566 have advanced, 939 have declined and 96 are unchanged.
