Sensex up 53pts; breadth +ve

The Sensex is now up 53 points at 14,484.

ACC has zoomed 7.6% to Rs 893. Ambuja Cements has soared over 6% to Rs 124, and Grasim has surged 4% to Rs 2,602.

HDFC has rallied 4.5% to Rs 1,930. Ranbaxy has gained 1.3% at Rs 347. SBI has advanced over 1% to Rs 1,464.

Hindalco has plunged 2.3% to Rs 166. Bajaj Auto has tumbled nearly 2% to Rs 2,092.

ONGC has shed 1.3% to Rs 909. Hindustan Unilever, Reliance Communications and Tata Steel are the other major losers.

Out of 2,631 stocks traded so far, 1,449 have advanced, 1,100 have declined and 82 are unchanged.
