Sensex up 53pts; Hindalco drops 2%

The Sensex is now up 53 points at 14,484.

ACC has zoomed 8.7% to Rs 902. Ambuja Cements has soared over 5% to Rs 122, and Grasim has surged 4.5% to Rs 2,614.

Ranbaxy and HDFC have advanced 1.7% each to Rs 348 and Rs 1,895, respectively.

Hero Honda and Dr.Reddy's have advanced around 1% each to Rs 683 and Rs 660, respectively.

Hindalco has dropped 2% to Rs 167. Bajaj Auto has shed 1.7% to Rs 2,095, and Maruti has slipped 1.4% to Rs 741.

Hindustan Unilever and HDFC Bank are down around 1% each to Rs 188 and Rs 1,080, respectively.

Out of 2,374 stocks traded so far, 1,501 have advanced, 804 have declined and 69 are unchanged.
