Sensex up 53pts in early trades

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 54 points at 15,100, and touched a new peak at 15,106. The index dropped to a low of 15,057, has recovered and is now up 53 points at 15,099.

Tata Motors has rallied 1.4% to Rs 725. HDFC Bank has advanced 1% to Rs 1,180.

Infosys, BHEL and Cipla are the other prominent gainers.
