Sensex up 53pts; Ranbaxy, tech stocks sizzle

The Sensex is now up 53 points at 11,139.

Ranbaxy has soared nearly 4% to Rs 413 on back of the news that the company has acquired a Romanian firm for $324 million.

Infosys has rallied 2% to Rs 3,016. Satyam and Wipro are also up nearly 2% each at Rs 836 and Rs 538, respectively.

ITC has added 1.4% to Rs 196. Cipla and Hindalco have gained 1.2% each at Rs 640 and Rs 175, respectively.

BHEL is up 1% at Rs 2,133.

ACC down over 1% at Rs 771 is the sole major loser among the Sensex stocks.

Out of 2,283 stocks traded so far, 1,484 have advanced, 729 have declined and 70 are unchanged.
