Sensex up 541pts; Bharti, Reliance surge 4%

The Sensex is now up 541 points at 16,210.

HDFC has zoomed 7% to Rs 2,332. ONGC and HDFC Bank have soared 6% each to Rs 903 and Rs 1,305, respectively.

Maruti has surged 5.7% to Rs 925. Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors have rallied 4.8% each to Rs 743 and Rs 729, respectively.

Bharti Airtel, SBI, Reliance, ICICI Bank and Reliance Communications and Tata Steel have advanced around 4% each to Rs 868, Rs 1,762, Rs 2,139, Rs 961, Rs 558 and Rs 738, respectively.

Out of 2,764 stocks traded so far, 1,730 have advanced, 959 have declined and 75 are unchanged.
