Sensex up 549pts; BHEL zooms 7%

Taking cue from Asian markets,  the benchmark BSE index, Sensex has rallied towards another milestone of 20,000, in early trades today. The index is now up 549 points at 19,792.

Nearly $8 billion have poured into Indian markets since Federal Reserve announced last cuts on this backdrop today's Federal Reserve board meeting is watched with lot of expectations.

BHEL has zoomed 6.8% to Rs 2,596. HDFC Bank and Larsen & Toubro have soared over 6% each to Rs 1,642 and Rs 4,115, respectively.

ICICI Bank has surged 5% to Rs 1,243. Reliance Energy and Grasim have gained 4.3% each at Rs 1,742 and Rs 3,935, respectively.

HDFC has advanced over 3% to Rs 2,649. ONGC has added 2.8% to Rs 1,188.

NTPC and Maruti have moved up 2.5% each to Rs 235 and Rs 1,209, respectively.

Ambuja Cements, Mahindra & Mahindra, ACC, SBI and Reliance are up around 2% each.
