Sensex up 54pts; breadth fairly +ve

The Sensex is now up 54 points at 15,500.

Ranbaxy has surged 2.5% to Rs 410.

ACC, Grasim, Tata Motors and Reliance Energy have rallied around 2% each to Rs 1,105, Rs 3,120, Rs 712 and Rs 839, respectively.

HDFC has moved up 1.8% to Rs 2,089. Ambuja Cements and Hindustan Unilever have gained 1.4% each at Rs 140 and Rs 215, respectively.

Hindalco and NTPC are the only notable losers.

The market breadth is positive - out of 2,338 stocks traded so far, 1,383 have advanced, 887 have declined and 68 are unchanged.
