Sensex up 54pts; cements stocks weak

The Sensex is now up 54 points at 15,753.

Ranbaxy has zoomed 7.6% to Rs 367. Cipla has soared 4% to Rs 194.

Maruti has surged 3.4% to Rs 837. Satyam has spurted over 3% to Rs 502.

Bajaj Auto, Tata Motors, Infosys and Reliance have rallied around 2% each to Rs 2,407, Rs 741, Rs 2,030 and Rs 1,938, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra has gained 1.5% at Rs 794, and ONGC has added 1% to Rs 945.

ACC has plunged 3.4% to Rs 1,034. Grasim has dropped 1.7% to Rs 2,920, and Gujarat Ambuja has shed 1% at Rs 127.

HDFC Bank has slipped 2.5% to Rs 1,211, and BHEL has declined 1.7% to Rs 1,759.

Out of 2,378 stocks traded so far, 1,543 have advanced, 737 have declined and 98 are unchanged.
