Sensex up 56pts; BHEL surges 4.5%

The Sensex is up 56 points at 9905.

BHEL has surged 4.5% to Rs 1,778. Larsen & Toubro is up 1.5% at Rs 2,132.

Hindalco has moved up 2.6% to Rs 165. Tata Steel has jumped 1.6% to Rs 402.

Tata Motors has gained 2.4% at Rs 704. Maruti has added 1.6% to Rs 759. Hero Honda has rallied 1.3% to Rs 862.

HDFC has advanced nearly 2% to Rs 1,342.

Wipro has added 1.5% to Rs 530. Infosys, Satyam and TCS are also trading in positive zones.

Tata Power is up 1.5% to Rs 472, and NTPC has gained 1.1% at Rs 114.

Gujarat Ambuja has slipped 1.5% to Rs 89.

Out of 2,503 stocks traded so far, 1,487 have declined, 960 have advanced and the rest are unmoved.

Reliance leads the value chart with a turnover of Rs 165.21 crore followed by Suzlon (Rs 95.01 crore), Everest Kanto (Rs 90.26 crore), SBI (Rs 63.86 crore) and Reliance Capital (Rs 57.82 crore).

GV Films tops the volume chart with trades of around 38.82 lakh shares followed by PBA Infrastructure (27.19 lakh), Everest Kanto (23.31 lakh), Reliance (23.26 lakh) and Bartronics (16.83 lakh).
