Sensex up 56pts; Dr.Reddy's, L&T, Grasim shine

The Sensex is surging back to the day's high. The index is now up 56 points at 9,976.

Dr.Reddy's has surged 7% to Rs 1,198. While Cipla has gained 1.5% at Rs 448, Ranbaxy has slipped 1% to Rs 396.

Larsen & Toubro has rallied 5% to Rs 2,276, and BHEL has added 2% to Rs 1,835.

Grasim has spurted 4.5% to Rs 1,517. ACC is up 1.6% at Rs 582. Gujarat Ambuja, however, is down 0.6% at Rs 88.

NTPC has moved up 2.2% to Rs 117. Tata Power has added 1.8% to Rs 480. On the other hand Reliance Energy has shed 1.2% at Rs 629.

Hero Honda has gained nearly 2% at Rs 872, and Bajaj Auto is up 1.3% at Rs 2,182. However, Maruti and Tata Motors are trading in red at Rs 753 and Rs 707, respectively.

HDFC has advanced 1.6% to Rs 1,362. ICICI Bank has declined 1.5% to Rs 600, and HDFC Bank is down 1% at Rs 755. SBI, too, is trading on slippery ground at Rs 882.

While Hindalo has moved up 1.4% to Rs 167, Tata Steel has slipped 1.6% to Rs 398.

Infosys had gained 1.2% at Rs 2,915. However, Satyam, TCS and Wipro are trading with marginal losses  at Rs 744, Rs 1,666 and Rs 526, respectively.

The market breadth continues to remain negative. Out of 2,453 stocks traded so far, 1,529 have declined, 862 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
