Sensex up 56pts; Satyam, Bharti shine

The Sensex is now up 56 points at 12,275.

The index is now almost flat at 12,208 - down 11 points.

Satyam has spurted 2.6% to Rs 772. Bharti Tele is up 1.7% at Rs 416.

Gujarat Ambuja has rallied 2.2% to Rs 125, and ACC is up 1% at Rs 999.

Hero Honda, Reliance Energy, HDFC Bank and TCS are the other smart gainers.

Hindalco and HDFC have dropped 1.7% each to Rs 232 and Rs 1,284, respectively. Dr.Reddy's is down 1.3% at Rs 1,660.

HDFC and Tata Motors have declined 1% each to Rs 1,291 and Rs 944, respectively.

Out of 2,361 stocks traded so far, 1,333 have moved up, 968 have declined and 60 are unchanged.

Century Textiles tops the value chart with a turnover of Rs 90 crore followed by Reliance Communication Ventures (Rs 71.82 crore), Reliance Capital (Rs 66.76 crore), ACC (Rs 57.89 crore) and Tata Steel (Rs 33.75 crore).

Himachal Futuristic leads the volume chart with trades of around 82.71 lakh shares followed by G V Films (56.64 lakh), Reliance Natural Resources (46.76 lakh), Reliance Communication Ventures (24.33 lakh) and RCF (20.58 lakh).
