Sensex up 57pts; metal, realty stocks extend gains

The Sensex has extended gains backed by fresh buying in metal and realty stocks. The index is now up 57 points at 8,485.

Sterlite has surged 4.5% to Rs 249. Reliance Infrastructure has soared 4% to Rs 455.

Hindalco and Tata Steel have rallied 3.3% each to Rs 39 and Rs 161, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates, Grasim and TCS have moved up 3% each to Rs 65, Rs 1,403 and Rs 458, respectively.

ONGC has moved up 2.5% to Rs 665. ACC added 2% to Rs 540.

HDFC has plunged 2.7% to Rs 1,168.

ICICI Bank and BHEL have dropped around 2% each to Rs 290 and Rs 1,340, respectively.

 

The market breadth is marginally negative - out of 2,318 stocks traded so far, 1,231 have declined and 964 have advanced.
