Sensex up 59pts; tech stocks still weak

The NSE Nifty is up 17 points at 5,054.

DLF and BHEL have surged over 4% each to Rs 678 and Rs 1,846, respectively.

Cipla, Jaiprakash Associates and HDFC have rallied 2.7% each to Rs 232, Rs 239 and Rs 2,550, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro, ONGC and ICICI Bank have gained around 2.5% each at Rs 2,918, Rs 1,055 and Rs 884, respectively.

ACC and NTPC have advanced over 2% each to Rs 818 and Rs 198, respectively. ITC has added 1.6% to Rs 212.

Tata Motors, HDFC Bank and Reliance Energy are up 1.3% each at Rs 631, Rs 1,465 and Rs 1,363, respectively.

 

TCS has slumped 9.5% to Rs 898. Wipro has plunged 4.8% to Rs 432. Satyam has shed 4.5% at Rs 438, and Infosys has slipped nearly 3% to Rs 1,598.

Ranbaxy has dropped 2.5% to Rs 487. Mahindra & Mahindra and Maruti are down around 1.5% each at Rs 629 and Rs 757, respectively.

Out of 2,653 stocks traded so far, 1,581 have advanced, 1,017 have declined and 55 are unchanged.
