Sensex up 6 pts, Bharti soars 5%

The market has rebounded into positive territory after a mixed opening as select heavyweights, particularly, Bharti, Tata Power and Reliance Energy have registered significant gains. Though auto pivotals are exhibiting mixed trend, tech stocks continue to trade with steep losses.

The Sensex is now up six points at 7,803, while the Nifty has inched up to 2,371 - up three points.

Bharti, after a firm opening, has flared up 4.82% (Rs 14) to Rs 298. While Tata Power has surged 2.84% (Rs 12) to Rs 420, Hindalco has gained 1.49% (Rs 20) to Rs 1,353. L&T, however, has slumped 1.74% (Rs 24) to Rs 1,341.

SBI is up a per cent (Rs 5) at Rs 812, and ICICI Bank is marginally up at Rs 515.

Bajaj has tumbled 2.78% (Rs 43) to Rs 1,490, and Hero Honda has dropped 2% (Rs 13) to Rs 618. While Tata Motors has jumped 1.81% (Rs 9) to Rs 511, Maruti has moved up 1.33% (Rs 7) to Rs 507.

ONGC (down Rs 3 to Rs 953) and Reliance (down Rs 2 to Rs 727) are trading at subdued levels. Reliance Energy, however, has advanced 2.56% (Rs 16) to Rs 655.

Infosys is down a per cent (Rs 22) at Rs 2,290. TCS (down Rs 11 to Rs 1,284), Wipro (down Rs 6 to Rs 725) and Satyam (down Rs 8 or 1.52% to Rs 532) are reeling under selling pressure.
