Sensex up 61pts; Tata Steel zooms 8%

The Sensex is now up 61 points at 17,211.

Tata Steel has zoomed 7.5% to Rs 854. Hindalco has soared 5% to Rs 172.

Reliance Energy has surged over 4% to Rs 1,164. ITC has rallied nearly 3% to Rs 190.

Maruti, Ranbaxy, ICICI Bank and SBI have advanced around 2% each to Rs 999, Rs 429, Rs 1,049 and Rs 1,920, respectively.

Reliance Communications, Cipla and Grasim are up 1% each at Rs 589, Rs 178 and Rs 3,460, respectively.

Reliance has slipped 2% to Rs 2,273. Mahindra & Mahindra has dropped 1.4% to Rs 742.

Bajaj Auto and Bharti Airtel are down 1% each at Rs 2,501 and Rs 951, respectively.

The market breadth is marginally negative - out of 2,747 stocks traded so far, 1,460 have declined, 1,217 have advanced and 70 are unchanged.
