Sensex up 623pts; ONGC, Tata Steel up 5%

The Sensex is now up 623 points at 19,785.

Wipro has zoomed nearly 8% to Rs 531. Infosys has soared 5.6% to Rs 1,794. TCS and Satyam have surged nearly 5% each to Rs 1,096 and Rs 448, respectively.

HDFC has rallied 6% to Rs 2,890. Tata Steel and ONGC have gained around 5% each at Rs 865 and Rs 1,247, respectively.

ICICI Bank, BHEL and Bharti Airtel have advanced 4.5% each to Rs 1,209, Rs 2,475 and Rs 955, respectively.

Reliance Energy has added 4% to Rs 2,017. Mahindra & Mahindra has moved up 3.5% to Rs 814.

DLF and HDFC Bank are up nearly 3% each to Rs 988 and Rs 1,692, respectively.

Out of 2,905 stocks traded so far, 2,001 have advanced, 865 have declined and 39 are unchanged.
