Sensex up 62pts; Tata Steel surges 3%

The Sensex is now up 62 points at 14,868.

ACC has soared 9.5% to Rs 1,028. Ambuja Cements has surged 4.7% to Rs 130. Grasim has gained 1.8% at Rs 2,752.

Tata Steel has surged 3% to Rs 618. NTPC, Cipla and Tata Motors have rallied 2% each to Rs 155, Rs 218 and Rs 702, respectively.

Ranbaxy has moved up 1.6% to Rs 370. Reliance and Reliance Communications are up over 1% each at Rs 1,724 and Rs 543, respectively.

ONGC and Wipro have dropped 1.5% each to Rs 875 and Rs 508, respectively. HDFC and SBI have slipped 1% each to Rs 1,979 and Rs 1,568, respectively.

Out of 2,656 stocks traded so far, 1,356 have declined, 1,235 have advanced and 65 are unchanged.
