Sensex up 63 pts, Fertiliser stocks in action

The Sensex touched a high of 7,341 as buying picked up in select old and new economy stocks. It is now up 63 points at 7,335, while the Nifty has added 19 points to 2,232.

TCS (up Rs 77 or 6.16% to Rs 1,325) has shed some gains due to profit-taking. While Infosys has surged 2.94% (Rs 65) to Rs 2,260, Satyam has notched up 3.61% gains (Rs 17) to Rs 498. Wipro is up 1.23% (Rs 9) at Rs 712.

While Reliance Energy has advanced 3.34% (Rs 21) to Rs 654, HLL has added 2.50% (Rs 4) to Rs 160. Reliance, however, is down a per cent (Rs 6) at Rs 660.

ITC (down Rs 26 or 1.49% to Rs 1,742) and ONGC (down Rs 9 to Rs 917) are still subdued.

L&T has gained 2.11% (Rs 27) at Rs 1,284.

Grasim has moved up 2.49% (Rs 27) to Rs 1,123. Other cement majors are displaying a mixed trend.

Fertiliser stocks have registered strong gains in the afternoon trades. RCF has shot up 13.96% (Rs 5) to Rs 45, and FACT has advanced 9.48% (Rs 3) to Rs 33. NFL has gained 6.36% (Rs 2) to Rs 41.
