Sensex up 636pts; Wipro slips 2%

The Sensex is now up 636 points at 18,250.

BHEL and Reliance Energy have zoomed around 7% each to Rs 2,205 and Rs 1,464, respectively. Larsen & Toubro has soared 6.4% to Rs 3,296.

Bharti Airtel has surged over 6% to Rs 985. HDFC Bank and Reliance have rallied 5% each at Rs 1,443 and Rs 2,533, respectively.

NTPC has moved up 4.8% to Rs 209, and ACC has gained 4.3% at Rs 1,062.

Tata Motors, Hindalco and Hindustan Unilever have advanced 4% each to Rs 805, Rs 185 and Rs 215, respectively. Reliance Communications has added 3.7% to Rs 747.

SBI, Tata Steel and Maruti are up around 3.5% each at Rs 1,772, Rs 866 and Rs 1,089, respectively.

Wipro, however, has slipped 1.7% to Rs 486.

Out of 2,593 stocks traded so far, 1,978 have advanced, 558 have declined and 57 are unchanged.
