Sensex up 63pts; Cipla, Ranbaxy up 2%

The Sensex is now up 63 points at 16,909.

Ranbaxy and Cipla have surged over 2% each to Rs 426 and Rs 171, respectively.

Bharti Airtel has gained 1.7% at Rs 961. Tata Steel and Satyam have advanced around 1.5% each to Rs 761 and Rs 416, respectively.

Infosys, HDFC Bank and Larsen & Toubro are the other prominent gainers.

Hindusan Unilever has shed 1.8% to Rs 220. NTPC, Bajaj Auto and ITC are down nearly 1% each at Rs 195, Rs 2,551 and Rs 186, respectively.
