Sensex up 63pts; Infosys surges 4%

The Sensex is now up 63 points at 16,079.

The NSE Nifty is up 18 points at 4,849.

Tata Steel has soared nearly 6% to Rs 694.

Infosys has surged 4% to Rs 1,498. Satyam has rallied 3% to Rs 407, and Wipro has gained 2.5% at Rs 441.

Cipla has moved up 2.5% to Rs 217. ITC and TCS have added 2% each to Rs 204 and Rs 870, respectively.

ITC and Larsen & Toubro are up 1.7% each at Rs 200 and Rs 3,011, respectively.

HDFC Bank has plunged 3.8% to Rs 1,381, and ICICI Bank has tumbled nearly 3% to Rs 810.

ONGC has shed 2.7% at Rs 1,040. Mahindra & Mahindra has slipped over 2% to Rs 671.

Tata Motors and Hindustan Unilever have declined 1.6% each to Rs 644 and Rs 240, respectively. HDFC is down 1.3% at Rs 2,627.

Out of 2,572 stocks traded so far, 2,041 have advanced, 492 have declined and 39 are unchanged.
