The Sensex is now up 63 points at 10,872. The index had touched a high of 10,992, after opening with a positive gap of 46 points at 10,855. HDFC has surged 4% to Rs 1,218. Satyam and Hero Honda have gained nearly 3% each at Rs 699 and Rs 850, respectively. Hindalco and Larsen & Toubro has rallied around 2.5% each to Rs 190 and Rs 2,425, respectively. Cipla and Tata Steel have advanced 2% each to Rs 238 and Rs 549, respectively. ITC has dropped 1.5% to Rs 181. NTPC and Bharti Airtel are the other notable losers among the Sensex stocks. Out of 2,340 stocks traded so far, 1,510 have advanced, 771 have declined and the rest are unchanged. Reliance leads the value chart with a turnover of Rs 63.79 crore followed by Tata Steel (Rs 47.60 crore), Amtek Auto (Rs 29.53 crore), Satyam (Rs 28.03 crore) and Mahindra Gesco (Rs 26.46 crore). SAIL tops the volume chart with trades of around 21.20 lakh shares followed by IFCI (14.80 lakh), Hindalco (13 lakh), Reliance Petro (12 lakh) and G V Films (11.83 lakh). |
