Sensex up 691pts; breadth fairly +ve

The Sensex is now up 691 points at 15,981.

The NSE Nifty is up 197 points at 4,807.

Jaiprakash (JP) Associates has zoomed 10.5% to Rs 221, and Reliance Energy has soared 8% to Rs 1,243.

DLF has surged 7.5% to Rs 643, and ICICI Bank has rallied 7% to Rs 862.

TCS has moved up 6.8% to Rs 879. HDFC and Infosys have gained 6.3% each at Rs 2,535 and Rs 1,446, respectively.

Satyam has advanced over 6% to Rs 415. Tata Steel and Reliance Communications have moved up around 6.5% each to Rs 626 and Rs 536, respectively.

BHEL and SBI are up 5% each at Rs 1,729 and Rs 1,966, respectively.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,554 stocks traded so far, 1,758 have advanced, 752 have declined and 44 are unchanged.
