Sensex up 705pts; Bajaj Auto slips 3%

The Sensex is now up 705 points at 19,867.

Wipro has zoomed 9% to Rs 536. Infosys has soared 6.5% to Rs 1,810. Satyam has surged over 6% to Rs 454, and TCS has gained 5.6% at Rs 1,104.

Bharti Airtel, HDFC and Reliance Energy have rallied over 6% each to Rs 973, Rs 2,896 and Rs 2,060, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Steel have advanced around 5% each to Rs 825 and Rs 865, respectively.

BHEL and ONGC have gained 4.8% each at Rs 2,482 and Rs 1,248, respectively. ICICI Bank had moved up 4.3% to Rs 1,206.

HDFC Bank, SBI, NTPC, Reliance Communications, Reliance, Tata Motors and Larsen & Toubro are the other major gainers.

Bajaj Auto, however, has tumbled 3% to Rs 2,710.

Out of 2,927 stocks traded so far, 1,992 have advanced, 899 have declined and 36 are unchanged.
