Sensex up 70pts; BHEL drops 2%

The Sensex is now up 70 points at 12,715.

Ranbaxy has soared over 6% to Rs 337. Grasim and Reliance Energy have rallied nearly 4% each to Rs 2,123 and Rs 475, respectively.

Hindalco and Gujarat Ambuja have surged around 3.5% each to Rs 133 and Rs 111, respectively.

Satyam has advanced nearly 3% to Rs 446, and HDFC Bank has added 2.7% to Rs 952.

Cipla has gained 2.5% at Rs 230. SBI and HLL are up over 2% each to Rs 950 and Rs 184, respectively.

BHEL has shed 1.6% to Rs 2,045, and Infosys has slipped over 1% to Rs 2,063.

Out of 2,577 stocks traded so far, 1,440 have advanced, 1,076 have declined and 61 are unchanged.
