Sensex up 70pts; Ranbaxy, BHEL lead

The Sensex is now up 70 points at 14,274.

Ranbaxy and BHEL have surged 2% each to Rs 378 and Rs 1,376, respectively.

SBI, Reliance Energy, Maruti and Reliance Communications have advanced 1.7% each to Rs 1,336, Rs 535, Rs 741 and Rs 499, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro, Gujarat Ambuja, Cipla and Tata Motors are up 1% each at Rs 1,944, Rs 112, Rs 212 and Rs 649, respectively.

NTPC has shed 1.6% to Rs 151. Hindalco and Grasim are the other prominent losers.
