Sensex up 70pts; Ranbaxy zooms 9%

The Sensex is now up 70 points at 15,769.

Ranbaxy has zoomed almost 9% to Rs 371. Cipla has soared 4.3% to Rs 194.

Maruti and Satyam have surged 3.3% each to Rs 837 and Rs 503, respectively.

Tata Motors and Bajaj Auto has rallied 2% each to Rs 741 and Rs 2,402, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra and Infosys have gained 1.8% each at Rs 797 and Rs 2,025, respectively.

ONGC, Reliance, TCS and Reliance Energy are up over 1% each at Rs 946, Rs 1,925, Rs 1,162 and Rs 786, respectively.

ACC has plunged 2.7% to Rs 1,042. Grasim has dropped 1.8% to Rs 2,915, and Gujarat Ambuja has shed 1% at Rs 127.

HDFC Bank and BHEL have slipped over 2% each to Rs 1,213 and Rs 1,750, respectively. Bharti Airtel is down 1.5% at Rs 933.

Out of 2,328 stocks traded so far, 1,485 have advanced, 755 have declined and 88 are unchanged.
