Sensex up 711pts; BHEL zooms 9%

The Sensex is now up 711 points to 17,660.

The NSE Nifty has gained 217 points to 5,147.

BHEL has zoomed 9.5% to Rs 2,170, and Hindalco has soared 7.4% to Rs 161.

Reliance Energy, Reliance Communications and DLF have surged nearly 7% each to Rs 1,667, Rs 596 and Rs 870, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro, ICICI Bank and Hindustan Unilever have rallied around 5.5% each to Rs 3,462, Rs 1,161 and Rs 204, respectively.

HDFC Bank, Reliance and ONGC have gained around 5% each at Rs 1,544, Rs 2,508 and Rs 990, respectively.

NTPC has moved up 4.7% to Rs 197, and Tata Steel has added 4% to Rs 788.

Out of 2,630 stocks traded so far, 1,774 have advanced, 815 have declined and 41 are unchanged.
