Sensex up 71pts; Cipla, ITC, HDFC Bank shine

The Sensex has recovered from the intra-day slip, and is now up 71 points at 10,051.

The BSE Bankex has gained nearly 2% to 5261. The FMCG Index is up 1.5% at 1781.

Cipla has spurted 2.3% to Rs 507. ITC and HDFC Bank have gained over 2% each at Rs 160 and Rs 760, respectively.

ICICI Bank is up 1.8% at Rs 618.

Gujarat Ambuja, Maruti, HLL, HDFC, Infosys, NTPC and SBI are also up over 1% each.

ONGC has shed 1.7% to Rs 1,170. TCS is down 1.6% at Rs 1,653.

The market breadth is slightly negative. Out of 2,497 stocks traded so far, 1,440 have declined, 984 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
