Sensex up 71pts; Infosys rallies 3%

The Sensex is now up 71 points at 10,272.

Infosys has rallied 3% to Rs 2,837. Satyam has surged 2.2% to Rs 785, and TCS has added 1.2% to Rs 1,687.

Gujarat Ambuja ,HDFC Bank and Grasim have gained over 2% each to Rs 88, Rs 727 and Rs 1,680, respectively.

Maruti has advanced nearly 2% to Rs 793, and HDFC has moved up 1.6% to Rs 1,385.

ITC, SBI, Hindalco and ACC also continue to hold smart gains.

Bajaj Auto has slipped 1.7% to Rs 2,540, and HLL has shed 1.5% to Rs 239.

The market breadth is slightly positive. Out of 2,517 stocks traded so far, 1,322 have advanced, 1,120 have declined and 75 are unchanged.

Jindal Photo has hit the 20% upper limit at Rs 160. Eicher Motors, Rain Calcining, Ansal Infrastructures, Areva, Deccan Chronicle, Shriram Transport, Liberty Shoes, iGate Global, Wyeth, Pfizer, Geometric Software, Arvind Mills, GTL, IDFC and Ingersoll Rand have posted sharp gains.

KLG Systel has slipped nearly 5% to Rs 119. Videocon Industries, GTC, Zenith, Dynemic Product, HFCL, IPCA Labs, Bombay Dyeing, Asahi India, Exide, United Phosphorous and Proctor & Gamble are the other prominent losers.
