Sensex up 71pts; Tata Steel, Bajaj lead

The Sensex is now up 71 points at 12,452.

Tata Steel and Bajaj Auto have rallied 2.3% each to Rs 531 and Rs 2,992, respectively.

Reliance Energy, Maruti and NTPC have surged 2% each to Rs 489, Rs 961 and Rs 130, respectively.

Grasim and Gujarat Ambuja are up nearly 2% each at Rs 2,519 and Rs 117, respectively.

Ranbaxy and Tata Motors have moved up around 1.5% each at Rs 438 and Rs 855, respectively.

ICICI Bank and Hero Honda are down 1% each at Rs 701 and Rs 782, respectively.

Out of 2,342 stocks traded so far, 1,613 have advanced, 667 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
