Sensex up 72pts @ 9921

The Sensex opened with a huge positive gap of 43 points at 9892. After touching a low of 9873, the index surged to a high of 9940. The index is now up 72 points at 9921.

BHEL has surged over 3% to Rs 1,757. Hindalco is up nearly 3% at Rs 165.

Maruti, NTPC, Tata Power, Tata Motors, Larsen & Toubro, Hero Honda, Wipro, Grasim, ONGC and HDFC are up 1-2% each.

ICICI Bank is the sole notable loser among the Sensex stocks.

Out of 2,310 stocks traded so far, 1,062 have advanced, 1,172 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
