The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 685 points at 17,415 on the back of 75 basis points rate cut by the US Federal Reserve. The index soon rallied to a high of 17,677, and then slipped to a low of 17,361. The index is now up 747 points at 17,477. The NSE Nifty has gained 186 points at 5,085. BHEL and Reliance Communications (RCom) have soared 7.5% each to Rs 2,135 and Rs 618, respectively. HDFC Bank has zoomed 7% to Rs 1,540. Reliance Energy has surged 6.6% to Rs 1,830. NTPC has rallied over 6% to Rs 209. ICICI Bank and HDFC have advanced 5% each to Rs 1,182 and Rs 2,605, respectively. DLF and Satyam have gained 4.7% each at Rs 908 and Rs 371, respectively. Wipro, however, has plunged 5.8% to Rs 404. |
